During our two-year operations programme, you will learn about a wide variety of areas that are vital to our success. You will have the opportunity to gain experience across a range of key Technology disciplines; typical placements include Science & Technology groups, engineering functions, integrated business planning, quality and manufacturing engineering, complimented by commercial rotations such as sales and service.
You will complete a minimum of four rotations, which may include an overseas assignment in one of our manufacturing centres. Smiths will also support you to gain further qualifications as needed.
As well as the programme placements, there will be the opportunity to work on stretch projects to further develop your understanding of our business as well as developing the soft skills you will need to succeed. As part of a Smiths-wide global graduate network, you will get to know our graduates from the different divisions and functions located worldwide to share learning experiences and create a network.
You will be supported by a graduate programme manager throughout the two-year programme to ensure that you reach your potential and have the skills you need to soar in the organisation.
· Having graduated or graduating in 2020 after studying a Technical or Engineering undergraduate or post graduate degree (Projected 2:1 or above) with high software / electronics engineering content
· For a software role experience in embedded C programming, C++ or Python
· For an electronics role experience in use of design tools eg. OrCAD, Altium Designer, Simulation tools, Gerber viewer etc or embedded circuit design.
· Able to work independently.
· Interest in Cyber Security and Machine Learning
· PC literate and familiar with standard applications such as MS Word and Excel
